Animals Abound at CAS this week!
That's right! It's the moment you've been waiting for! CAS's annual trip to the Jacksonville Zoo is this weekend.
And to start your animal sketches off in the right direction, we have the great animal artist, Mallory Pearce, presenting a Frames of Influence: Animal Drawing Workshop! Professor Pearce has great advice for quickly sketching and getting down the basics of animal gestures and animal anatomy. We are thrilled that he will be giving us some pointers for our upcoming trip. So bring those sketchbooks to Montgomery Hall 311 this Thursday at 8:30 PM to prepare for our trip to the wild side!
Don't forget, we will be looking at/selecting a design for CAS T-shirts this Thursday after the presentation.
SO BRING IN THOSE DESIGNS!

If you haven’t signed up for the zoo trip, you better make a dash to our meeting this week! We have limited seats on the bus AND ONLY A HANDFUL OF SPOTS ARE LEFT!
And for those eagerly awaiting, we are proud to announce the return from vacation of Arts Educators. The students and teachers are eagerly awaiting the return of our program. So if you would like to teach the joys of animation to some very appreciative children, now is your chance!
Meet in the lobby of Montgomery Hall (front doors) at 2 PM on Friday.
It is a great opportunity to spread the joys of the craft!
Next week, April 26th, is the 2008 Sidewalk Arts Festival, and CAS is preparing for our annual 3-square chalk mural! If you would like to participate, there will be a sign up at our upcoming CAS meetings.
But even more exciting, you can have YOUR idea featured this year! We’re looking for your designs to select our mural this year. Keep in mind that as the Contemporary Animation Society, we look for designs that have a cartoon appeal or relate to animation. As well, there is a prize available for winning designs of a marine nature, but there is no requirement to have your design fit a marine nature for CAS’s mural.
Mural designs are due at our next CAS Meeting, April 24th.
We will be selecting the winner at the end of the meeting.
So get those designs polished up and prepare to wander with the animals,
I’ll see you Thursday,
Elaine Nybeck,
CAS Secretary
