Hellsing. the manga and new OVAs that is (the anime itself is terrible) TOTALLY different from Naruto lawl. Toppa Tengen Gurren Lagann. its pretty new but its starting to become more popular. but the series is already over. I don't watch any of the other anime you guys do. xB a also read yaoi manga online. on a LJ comm. but it has been scanlated..i can't read japanese. I'm not really that big on anime, but Fooly Cooly is an amazing one. If you can follow the story line that is. It's not the easiest to follow, but, contrary to what some may say, it does all makes sense. (Well, as much sense as far as anime goes.)

You have your mechas, your intense characters with hair that never stays down, scantily clad girls, and explosions. That and usually a high amount of angst. Granted, that's a generalization and not entirely true, but it's fun to say.

Oh yeah, I'm well acquainted with anime and have watched quite a bit, but by much of SCAD standards, I've practically never heard of it.

Yeah... speaking of Fooly Cooly, doesn anyone know why it's such a "non-anime" anime film?
What I mean is this: I love FLCL, but I'm not usually a fan of anime. Many people I know who love anime don't like FLCL. Anyone have a clue why?

OK, so if you aren't offended by stuff that makes fun of the generalizations created by some anime (and, for that matter, children's TV in general), search for "Yu-Gi-Oh the Abridged Series" on Youtube. There are some dubbed-over, shortened episodes of the Yu-Gi-Oh TV show and a movie that are ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS. I don't know how well they compare to the original, because I never watched it, but I have a hunch that these might actually be better.

My favorites are Full Metal Alchemist, Wolf's Rain, Blue Gender, Gundam Wing, the first three seasons of Sailor Moon, and Escaflowne. Some good manga to look into is Fruits Basket (way better than the show), Angel Sanctuary (though quite sacrilegious, so you've got to have a strong stomach for it. The anime is hillariously bad. Manga's way better), Gravitation, Full Metal Alchemist (splits off from the anime entirely at one point), Death Note's pretty good. That's all I can think of offhand.
And the YuGiOh Abridged Series, as Nate mentioned, is hilarious. They're funny whether or not you've seen the anime (though, in my opinion, it's even funnier if you have because you'll get the inside jokes)

Okay...dudes... I just discovered the awesome insanity that is Gurren Laggan. (Thanks to a friend!) The title made me think it was German. XD Usually I hate robot stuff, but this one is hilarious. I love it. I may even get the box set. I always feel guilty for watching things online.
